Among the myriad doors that adorn Casco Viejo, this particular one stands as a paragon of iconic allure. Its resplendent colors and the mesmerizing intricacies etched into its wooden surface are nothing short of captivating. Recently, I've had the pleasure of adorning my own walls with this image, and the details continue to ensnare my attention, often garnering admiration and comments from my guests. This mesmerizing effect is, without a doubt, due to the fact that, among all the properties in Casco Viejo, this door graces the neighborhood with the most intricate and enchanting façade.

Restored with great care in 2017 by Hyde Historic Properties, this white building is affectionately known as "Jeronimo." Its historical roots trace back to 1914 when it was constructed by a skilled dentist and freemason named Jeronimo Garcia. This architectural gem proudly stands at the highest point of the castle wall of the old city, gazing out over its domain with tiffany blue doors and ornate details that speak of an era long past.

In the present day, the bottom floor houses Hairarchy, a popular salon inviting guests to indulge in a day of beauty. Behind the salon, a vibrant speakeasy comes to life as night falls. Here, trendy cocktails flow, intermingling with animated conversations about art while savoring delectable sushi. The building, which has witnessed the ebb and flow of history, now echoes with the laughter and camaraderie of the modern-day Casco Viejo scene.

In a cinematic twist, the building played a role in the hit 2001 film "The Tailor of Panama," featuring stars like Pierce Brosnan, Geoffrey Rush, Jamie Lee Curtis, Brendan Gleeson, and a young Daniel Radcliffe. Brendan Gleeson's character resided in an apartment on the second floor, and in the film, Geoffrey Rush strolled up the street to visit his friend here, trailed by curious children asking for change. Interestingly, children still continue to approach passersby, seeking spare coins today, creating a bridge between past and present.

This street is a living testament to the resurgence of Casco Viejo, where meticulously restored buildings abound in every direction, a testament to the enduring charm of this historic neighborhood.
