Casco Viejo's vibrant streets are home not only to its beloved cats but also to a number of street dogs, each with its unique personality. These dogs display remarkable behavior and seem to have carved out a daily routine of their own. Some are known to make a regular appearance outside the local Rey store, arriving promptly at opening time, where they can be seen lounging near the entrance, savoring the refreshing coolness of the AC that escapes the front door.

One particular pup featured in this photo has a memorable presence, and during my daily walks along Cinta Costera 3, I've had the pleasure of encountering what I believe to be both the mother and father of this charming dog. Throughout Casco Viejo, several similar-looking pups share the streets with these proud parents.

During a community picnic on the beach, I had a serendipitous encounter with one of these pups, I named Tiki. With the collective efforts of our community, we rescued him, ensured he received proper care, and found him a loving forever home. This pup, no doubt a sibling of Tiki, we will call him, Tiki 2, at the time of this capture, still roams around Casco Viejo. Our community attempted to rescue him but is seemed that he was claimed as someone's pet, but we did ensure he was nutered. He is clearly very curious and enjoys treats if offered. My friend Laura captured this incredible shot. It encapsulates a heartwarming glimpse into the life of Casco Viejo's street dogs, their unique stories, and the community's collective spirit of compassion.
