Casco Viejo is renowned for its charming feline inhabitants who gracefully roam this San Felipe barrio. At the heart of this community, many residents are members of the Casco Cat Chat who takes the protection and well-being of the neighborhood cats very seriously. They diligently provide these cats with nourishment twice daily, employ responsible population control through neutering and ear-clipping, and offer tender care to rehabilitate injured or ill felines. These dedicated efforts ensure a harmonious existence between cats and humans in Casco Viejo.

While these Casco Cats typically stick to their respective streets, their behaviors vary. Some are rather shy, choosing to keep their distance from passersby, while others bask in the attention they receive from pedestrians. As cat lovers explore the neighborhood, they often pause to capture these endearing cats in photographs, cherishing these impromptu encounters. These cats would be wealthy and live in cat castles if they had a dollar for every picture taken of them.

This specific cat, Coco, makes his home in a multiunit house at the corner of Avenida A and Calle 2nda, just a stone's throw from the Casco School. He shares this dwelling with his companion, Bonnie, who has found the perfect refuge in a hole on the side of the building. Walking my dog down this street, I've frequently observed Frankie darting into his hideaway. After numerous attempts, I was overjoyed to finally capture him in a poised moment, peering out at me. In today's world, cats and dogs reign supreme. For locals, this image encapsulates the quintessential essence of Casco Viejo.

Proceeds from this image will be donated to the Casco Cat Community.
