As you take a leisurely stroll along Avenida Central, nearing the entrance to Plaza Catedral and just before you reach the Central Hotel, your gaze is sure to be drawn to a remarkable structure that graces the thoroughfare. This architectural marvel, standing at an impressive three stories high, boasts a distinctive exterior, painted in a rustic, peach hue that harmonizes beautifully with the historic turquoise-colored wooden doors. These doors are a testament to craftsmanship, bearing their original intricate iron metalwork, handles, and locks.

In the midst of a rapidly evolving cityscape, this dignified structure proudly holds its own, seemingly unperturbed as the buildings around it undergo facelifts and comprehensive renovations. A living testament to Panama's architectural heritage, this splendid edifice was initially constructed in 1886, known then as La Casa Manuel Maria Méndez. It wasn't long before the property found itself in the hands of Ramon Escobar, a prominent figure in nineteenth-century Panama.

In the days when Ramon Escobar graced these very doors, the building bore a different visage. Its exterior was adorned in an off-white coat, adorned with yellow trim, while the wooden doors retained their unpainted, natural charm. The second floor featured the elegant addition of wooden balconies, complete with ornate iron railings.

Over the years, the balconies and railings have faded into memory, yet the magnificent front doors, resplendent with their intricate iron and woodwork, stand as a resilient testament to the building's enduring beauty. There's a sense of anticipation in the air, a whisper of a promising future, suggesting that, one day soon, this grand structure will be lovingly restored to its former glory.
