As you amble down Avenida Central, close to the Central Hotel, your gaze may land upon a two-story building on the west side. Its ground floor houses a quintessential Panamanian gift store, brimming with a colorful array of souvenirs. Above, an enchanting balcony graces the scene, adorned with an exquisite copper railing.
While the doors show signs of wear, they still cling to their hinges. The building's facade showcases calicanto brick, with patches of stucco peeling away, revealing the weathered beauty beneath. The allure of this decaying yet captivating structure is undeniable.
Recently, this building has been listed for sale, prompting a fresh coat of brown paint on the doors in an attempt to rejuvenate its appearance. The balcony extends gracefully, and to the right, another window (#20 Green Balcony) basks in a slightly different sunbeam, creating a warmer ambiance and revealing more of the exposed brick.
